QUOTE='JuneauEu' I normally avoid posting on the forum but i'm a tad annoyed right now. Firstly, the game looks good, but at the same time it's cluttered with crap that ruins the game for me. There are pipes sticking out of things and bits of wood that although they look about 2 inches thick seem to be about a foot wide when your shooting past them and end up hitting invisible walls everywhere. Then there are the hackers.
Crysis 2 is the sequel to 2007's Crysis which was lauded for its impressive visuals. German based studio Crytek Frankfurt which developed the first game is the lead developer of the sequel along with help from Crytek UK, formerly Free Radical.
Its a demo and i've already seen atleast 15 people out of the 100 i've seen today hacking. Some of the hacking websites already have.exe programs which will work on launch of the game (so they say). The game I just left this guy was 68-1 running around in stealth with nano vision on 100% the time.
2 Servers before that another guy was running super fast and insta shooting people -without stopping (meaning full suit power permnanetly) I've actually cancelled my pre-order after doing the rounds on a few cracker sites and seen the ammount of stuff already in the works for C2, I was interested in this MP wise but after the state of the demo - no thank you. I'll borrow it from a friend and play the SP when he's finished with it. Gameguy6700 I really wouldn't use a MP demo to judge how well a game is going to be able to guard against hackers. Typically the only defense most games have against hacking is server bans and since most demos only last a month or so at the longest companies really don't bother to guard against hackers since it's not that big of a deal in a demo. The demo is set to expire on the 13th anyways.
Correct me if I'm wrong. QUOTE='-CheeseEater-' How did you go about increasing your FoV in the demo mate? I can't seem to enable the console in the demo:( ZimpanX Like this. Create a shortcut for the Crysis 2 Demo exe file. Well maxed out at level 10 and I think I've warmed to the gameplay.
The nanosuit works well when you manage your energy via the different powers. There aren't lots of deaths from called in support items which helps the gameplay focus on player vs player.
I haven't gotten many kills with air stomp yet but they were pretty damn fun when I did them. Sneaking around in cloak only to have somebody uncloak in front of you is pretty funny. Or just seeing the shadow of somebody cloaked and trying to find them.
The assault rifles are really powerful., short and long range. You can practically snipe with them although against a good sniper its not advised. I could see myself playing it for more than 5 hours actually, definitely better than Crysis 1 mp. I hope there are a few big maps like Pier 17.
I've tweaked a few things and the game looks better now, just need to remove the excess object blur (motion blur doesn't turn all the blur off). Shouldn't take long for people to work out what commands are needed to make it as crisp as Crysis.

Nutcrackr I'm at level 9 right now and doing pretty well in most matches, i gotta say the games pretty fun when you give it a chance. Here's hoping they allow us to play custom maps in the final game. QUOTE='dakan45'QUOTE='Matty829' Sounds to me like you don't really understand the concept of a demo. Sounds to me that you are the one who does not understand the concept of a demo along with crytek:roll: Cool, write them a letter saying you want the entire full game to play so then you can make a decicion on the game quality. Can't argue with that logic. A demo is just a taste of what the game has to offer. What would you have done if the game didn't even have a demo at all?
'Oh im not buying this game now because I don't understand how the weapon advancement levels work?! I don't even know what the maximum level is!' How the hell one or two more unlocks than the ALREADY unlocked ones is 'the entire full game'? Nice argument there pal, really nice. It might help if you made a coherent post in the first place and provided evidence to back up any of your points DigitalExile So the post i made was not coherent? I wonder what would you understand if it actually was not coherent.:( ou said you couldn't evaluate the game based on the demo because it didn't include the more advanced/higher level unlocks.
Essentially, you want the best of what the game has to offer to see if it's balanced or not, which is comparable to wanting to read the last page of a book to see how it ends. You want the end experience to form an evaluation, and I get that in some regards, but at the same time you'd be spoiling the point of the multiplayer which was to get a basic idea of what game play, levelling up, unlocking items would be like and then evaluating that foundation of gameplay experience and concluding whether you'd want to play further or not. Hell, screw balance you might not even like the other weapons they have to offer, but your point was still basically that you wanted to experience the upper levels of unlocks and gameplay and that would give you no incentive to play further. DigitalExile ARE YOU SERIOUS? Am i being that hard to underastand when i am saying that i want to see some actual unlocks and wherever they get overpowered or a diffirent weapon becasue i did not like either of the default ones yet you say all that stuff like: 'because it didn't include the more advanced/higher level unlocks' NO because it did not include ANYTHING else apart from the default ones, AKA what you already have seen. Yet you guys say that thats 'Everything' and now 'advanced' So i ask again.
ARE YOU SERIOUS? Or you try to make an argument with obvious exaggeration that only intends to piss me off? 'The demo is supposed to be chapter 1 of the book.
If you don't like chapter 1 you can either choose to put the book down or invest your time working your way to the last page, don't skip to 3/4 or the end of the book and see if it 'gets better' straight away.' Yes it SUPOSE to be that, but it was just the prologue, i dont want to 'skip through the 3/4 or the end' I want to see something more than just the DEFAULT stuff. I actually wanna see ' IF IT GETS BETTER' later on. Sadly NONE of those things were given in the demo If it was a cod demo, you would have much more unlocks than just what you have already TRIED because it was available on the default loadouts:roll: Is that that HARD to undersand? QUOTE='Elann2008' My target box says Crysis 2 demo and it's grayed out. I cannot click on it. Could it be because I installed the latest SLi profile?
Trijity Nope, had to figure this out on my own as well. Just got to C: Program Files (x86) Electronic Arts Crytek Crysis 2 Demo bin32 and right click the Crysis2demo exe file, click to create shortcut. Drag that shortcut onto your desktop. Now, right click, go to properties, and in the box by 'target' LEAVE what is alrdy in there but at the very end do a space and copy/paste the line below to get rid of motion blur/set FoV to 90/skip into. If you start up the shortcut and it skips intro, well then you are probably set! +rmotionblur=0 +clfov=90 +rdrawnearfov=90 +plmovement.powersprinttargetFov=90 +gskipintro=1 this is great now the game looks much better, can't wait for the real game!
QUOTE='Upparoom' QUOTE='SoraX64' Really? Playing on hardcore at 1920x1080 felt quite beautiful. Looked a little better than Crysis, in my opinion. Vanilla, of course. Millerlight89 I still looked a little blurry to me on 1080, but that's probably because I was getting like 22fps:P. The post processing motion blur is tad overbearing, so I can see why it'd look a bit blurry. If only we could, you know, tweak the settings(hint hint Crytek) or something.
Naw, the game is blurry. Try 1050 instead. QUOTE='NoAssKicker47' Something's up. The game runs beautifully on Advanced at 1920x1080 with my aging 8800GT. Mitu123 At what FPS? I wanted to check for you, but now for some reason it refuses to run. I tried verifying and defragmenting the local game files, but that didn't work.
It gives me this message: Failed to initialize the GameStartup Interface! Anyways, it was fast enough that I could aim easily and there were no hitches whatsoever. I did, however, run around in an empty server. Probably in a full server with lots of explosions and physics going on, the framerate would be much worse.
QUOTE='JangoWuzHere' QUOTE='millerlight89' I guess there is one simple thing in the demo which perfectly sums up the PC-Version of the Game: 'Press Start to Begin' Good night. James161324 I don't see your point at all. Especially considering that the menus and gameplay feel just fine. Its refering to how half assed the demo is. That they pretty much just took the 360 verision and threw it on the pc. Oh no, it says press start on the main menu, you guys make me laugh.
Theres no comparison between the xbox and pc version, the xbox one is crap, while the pc one has great graphics is sharp and runs smooth. The bad: #Hardcore settings are a slight enhancement over the 360 version. #The Temporal AntiAliasing degrades the image quality and the player awareness about the environment. #The High Dinamic Range effects are cranked over the top #Wireframe and texture resolution isn't at the level of the leak, despite the maps are present in both sp and mp. #No shorcut to the grenade, the throw range is ridiculously short -Strengh Mode, I miss you:(. #Armor mode drains energy even without being attacked, and only absorbs PART of the damage. #The movement is a bit too slow, even sliding and jumping; no strafe/circle jumps, Speed moves are nerfed compared against Crysis 1.
#Autoaim and Toggle Zoom are ON by deffault, as mouse acceleration. You need to change some of them through console commands. #Maps aren't as big as in Crysis. The match join is a mesh.
I had only 1 crash, once you start to play is stable and smooth, but a lot of matches just don't start. #Environmental destruction is only cosmetic, no big changes in the gameplay before/after a match. #Animations of the deaths are a bit 'meh'. #Aiming is a bit slow. #Is mainly a deathmatch game; lacks deep compared against BC 2 or somi military sims. The good: #The unlock system is fun, the gadgets are great.
#Physical attack is balanced; you need two hits to kill and the air stomp isn't overpowered. #The lightning engine is superb, despite the excessive saturation. Model of the weapons and characters are great, also. #The sound is great, and the punches, sliding, climbing and stomp animations are nice too. #Cloak is more powerful than in Crysis, but balanced due Cryvision. #You can combine multiple powers, i.e.: sliding + shooting + punching whereas one is using Armor + Cryvision, the 5 times almost at the same time. #The performance is superb; I'm playing in Hardcore at 2560 x 1440 at average 33 fps and recording with FRPS at half size mode while playing at 25 fps: is smooth and solid like a stone.
A couple of my direct feed vids: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjgqKAG1L4k. ^ It doesn't look like you used the tweaks. But thank you for sharing your feedback instead of just bashing the game!:) What are your specs? Elann2008 Thanx. I had a i720, 6 GB DDR 1600 mhz, a Radeon 5870 and a Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatal1ty, running over Widows 7 Ultimate 64.

The game runs smooth, and I can even play while recording with FRAPS at 2560 x 1440 (around 25 fps with Fraps capturing the video at 1280 x720). Without recording the game is running around 33 fps.
Crytek needs to give us options to tweak the settings in the final game, at least to disable the TAA. And of course must leave us higher settings; the demo is a copy & paste from the one in Xbox 360; runs very well but can look way better (as far as I saw from pics and vids from the leak). How is it a copy and paste from the xbox version? Millerlight89 Ugh the PC version is not high quality, and it sure as hell isn't crisp. I saw screenshots from the leak (most of the mp maps are from the sp campaign) and the hands and the weapons from the character and the textures and environments are a lot more detailed in the leak. In Pier 17, there's some places in which some objects as the microwave in the bar that are absent, and the WCs doesn't project shadows. Belive me: the 'PC demo' is a copy and paste from the Xbox 360 version (the 'Press Start and default autoaim and toogle zoom are just examples to remark this). What I'm trying to say is that the final version for PC, even being the same in gameplay, will have MUCH better visuals 8and I'm not saying that the demo looks bad, but some things as the overexposition from the HDR or the horrible TAA and the low res textures here and there will fade in the final game and all will look much sharper and crisp and detailed.

I really like the demo. And it isn't crap. It's actually really good, but you can tell it's from the Xbox 360 version slapped on with PC controls (except for the 'press the start button). Like I've said in countless posts, with the tweaks, it looks fantastic for a demo build. I wasn't complaining per se. I was just sayin'.
They weren't planning to release a PC demo? But they rushed it out the last moment. So I'm sure it's more or less, not a true PC demo version. But I don't really care at this point haha.:). Ugh the PC version is not high quality, and it sure as hell isn't crisp. Looks much more crisp with glow off, I like it. Yea, I tried that now. It does look better. IDK, the graphics aren't the issue I'm really having, it's the lack of graphical options. I really hope they give us more in the final version, or at least tell us what each means like Metro 2033 has it set up. I mean, I do like the gameplay, it's pretty fun.
I also like how the suit powers are handled now. I just hate the loss of interacting with the enviroment. I mean you can do it to some extent, but when my car got stuck because I couldn't know over a damn poll no higher than my car. It's just little things like that. They are all starting to add up. I'll still end up getting this game, but not until dx11 is released.
